"It's not like that. It's not like that at all. You constantly have the urge to collect. And it should also be subtracted. It shouldn't just be added. It should also be separated. That's how it is in life. That's how it is in philosophy. That's how it is in science. That's what progress, civilization is about."
In the play "The Lesson" by author Eugene Ionesco, the concept of the entire play consists in the title itself, which is a complement to the work: "The Lesson". It was arrived at by justifying the absurd character of "The Professor", which is absurd in itself, and also justifying the absurd itself as a means of growth of the most famous absurdist author.
The author's strong concept takes on a modern twist, starting from his own material through the director's prism, which clearly speaks about today's social problems from an educational as well as a progressive perspective of people. The criticism is highlighted through the lucid mission of the professor who, unable to cope with the new generation, decides to make a Machiavellian choice and selection of the whole from the unwhole beings on planet Earth - committing in a way - completely from his perspective - justified genocide.
Physical theater, worked in the style and direction of Meyerhold, gains a presence in the play as a symbolic means of expression generally for the main character in the play, highlighting his aggressiveness in the work, which intensifies more and more from the beginning to the end of the play – the choreographies themselves also progress with it, becoming more prominent and intense towards the end. The absurd at first seems untrue – until we start to deal with it.
